Melodye Dewine - A beautiful Vocalist whose Look, Style and Presentation invites you to The Classics. As a Vocalist, she focuses on the Classic Standards Songbook of the 40's, 50's, 60's as well as Bossa Novas, Swing and Beyond. Her steamy, torchy ballads especially reflect the presentation of the Greats, like June Christy, Frank Sinatra, Pinky Winters and Shirley Horn.
Melodye’s creative influences stemmed from a family background steeped in showbiz and nightclub entertainment, which helped inspire the many interests and talents she developed. She began singing with her sister Zanne Hall (vocalist/drummer) in an act called The Miley Sisters and they still perform together today in venues throughout Southern California.
This enormously talented artist and entertainer attended the Cincinnati Art Academy and the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts which lead her into the world of fashion design, painting, fine arts and photography.
In addition, Melodye is an accomplished writer; she is a published poet and has written a screenplay.
Melodye now channels her direction into her serious passion for singing. She has established her visibility and presence performing in many venues, clubs and hotels throughout California, Las Vegas and beyond such as The Lutz Hotel, 360 Club (Beverly Hills), The Malibu Inn, Spazio, Lunaria, B.B. Kings, Howl At The Moon, Charlie O’s, Jax, Restaurant Halie, Steamers, French 75, Kikuya, Martini Blues, The Mission Inn, The Cedar Creek Inn, Newport 17, Bistango’s and The New Orleans Hotel (Las Vegas).
Melodye has collaborated and/or performed with such world renowned musicians as Wayland Pickard (James Darren), David Dial (Burt Bacharach), Rick Sherman, Allen Reminton, Ron Kobayashi, Tim Welvaars, Rick Olson, Dan Weinstein, Henry Franklin, Earl Palmer, Jose Feliciano, Plas Johnson, Herman Riley, Jeff Clayton, Rickey Woodward, Tony Dumas, Otmaro Ruiz, Llew Matthews and the Frank Sinatra reunion rhythm section of Bill Miller, Ron Anthony, Jim Hughart and drummer/arranger, Ralph Penland heralded Melodye DeWine as "a musical force to be reckoned with."
When Ralph Penland introduced Melodye to American Music Legend, Benny Carter (Key Largo, Only Trust Your Heart, All That Jazz, Lonely Woman, When Lights Are Low), Benny befriended Melodye and helped to encourage her as she had always wanted to record his song, Lonely Woman…and she did! His confidence in her continued up until his recent passing. At the Memorial Tribute at UCLA’s Schoenberg Hall hosted by Quincy Jones, Melodye was invited to share the stage with such music luminaries as Quincy Jones, Kenny Burrell, James Moody, Gerald Wiggins, John Clayton, Ernie Andrews, Roberta Gambarini, Roy Hargrove, Chris Neville & Ralph Penland among others.
Melodye Dewine has appeared several times recently both as a Celebrity Judge and Special Guest singer for radio station 570 KLAC’s Fabulous Finds, hosted by DJ Brad Chambers. She is currently completing her own CD production, singing many Classics and Standards out of the Great American Songbook and more! Her stage presence is formidable and her presentation is unique and memorable.
